Providing Targeted Assistance – Creating Clarity

The Clearing and Assessment Center of the Bochum Youth Welfare Office is the central point of contact for children, adolescents, and young adults between the ages of 6 and 21 when it comes to assessing eligibility for integration assistance. The goal is to identify individual support needs early on and to initiate appropriate assistance.

Who can apply?

• Legal guardians of children and adolescents (under 18 years of age)

• Young adults 18 and older

What is being tested?

The agency determines whether a so-called "participation impairment" exists—that is, a psychological, intellectual, or physical impairment that makes it difficult to participate in society. This is based on Sections 35a of SGB VIII and 99 of SGB IX.

What kinds of assistance are available?

• Autism Therapy

• Special Education Support

• Learning Therapy for Dyslexia or Dyscalculia

• School Support (Integration Assistance)

What is needed?

The following documents are required to submit an application:

• A medical or psychotherapeutic evaluation

• For learning therapy: a doctor's note confirming hearing and vision ability

• Written Waiver of Confidentiality for Participating Agencies

Applicants are required by law to cooperate (Section 60 of Book I of the Social Code). This is the only way the agency can make an accurate assessment.

Who works there?

A multidisciplinary team consisting of:

• Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists

• Therapeutic and Rehabilitation Educators

• Administrative Professionals

• These services are free of charge if the eligibility requirements are met.
