Confidential Support for Mental Health Issues

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Service of the Bochum Public Health Department provides counseling to children and adolescents up to age 18—as well as to parents, teachers, school social workers, and anyone else who would like to help. Counseling is free of charge and confidential.

What kind of help does the team provide?

  • Suicidal thoughts, self-harm

  • Anxiety, Depression, Panic Attacks

  • Bullying, social withdrawal, truancy

  • Eating Disorders, Identity Issues, Media Consumption

  • Aggressive behavior, lack of motivation

  • Crisis situations involving danger to oneself or others

  • Deep sadness, difficulty concentrating, substance use disorders

What else does the service offer?

  • Supportive Conversations During Acute Crises

  • Referral and coordination with the Department of Children and Family Services, schools, clinics, and therapists

  • Assistance in accessing additional support services
