Youth social work

Create perspectives

Youth social work is aimed at young people who need special support - be it due to social disadvantage, individual impairment or difficult life situations.

What the Goal is?

Youth social work aims to enable participation. It helps young people to find their place in school, training and society - individually, in a low-threshold and realistic way.

What is involved?

  • Advice and support for school, family or personal problems

  • Support with the transition from school to work (e.g. through youth employment assistance)

  • Youth housing services for young people without a stable home

  • Mobile and outreach help in the district

  • Projects for violence prevention, media education and social integration

How does youth social work work?

It has a socio-educational focus and works closely with schools, youth welfare offices, independent providers and other institutions. In Bochum, it is part of the municipal youth welfare service and is based on a socio-spatial approach.
