Digital end devices, networks and presentation technology are the basis for modern teaching in the digital age. This section provides information on the hardware used, network standards and school-specific equipment concepts.
Device equipment
In order to ensure cost-efficient procurement and practicable support, a high degree of standardization was aimed for in the Bochum schools.
All schools run by the city are equipped with iPads for teachers and pupils. Digital multi-touch displays or projector-whiteboard combinations are used in classrooms.which enable the wireless transmission of content. In addition, some schools have special equipment such as learning robots or 3D printers, depending on the respective media concept and individual requirements.
WLAN and network infrastructure
To meet the increasing demand from mobile devices and web-based content, all schools were equipped with high-performance broadband connections.equipped. The network infrastructure is adapted to the respective type of school and is scalable.
Technology standards & software solutions
Uniform technology standards are crucial for a functioning, maintainable and future-proof IT infrastructure in schools. They create the prerequisites for the sensible use of digital tools in terms of media education and facilitate both technical support and pedagogical integration. This section presents the platforms, software solutions and security concepts used to digitally support and secure everyday school life.
IServAll primary and secondary schools are gradually being equipped with the IServ school platform. Berufskollegs work with the server systems they have already established.
Microsoft 365M365 is used for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and collaborative work. It enables video conferences, chats and file storage.
Apps & digital teaching materialsAfter a joint needs analysis with the schools, selected tools are provided centrally - including task cards,Antolin,EduMaps,Bildungsmediathek NRW and the browser-based blackboard software Prowise.
Data protection & usage guidelines
IT security is based on the recommendations of Medienberatung NRW and includes measures in the areas of software (e.g. virus protection), Internet use (e.g. content filters), data protection (e.g. network separation) and infrastructure (physical and logical separation of networks).
