Supervision of Grundschulen

Professional supervision serves to ensure quality in the education system. In Grundschulen, it lies with the responsible school authority, where school inspectors exercise official and technical supervision and are the point of contact for internal school matters. It includes pedagogical supervision, support for teachers and monitoring compliance with educational standards.

Objectives of technical supervision

  • Ensuring high-quality teaching

  • Promotion of school and teaching development

  • Support in the implementation of curricula and educational programs

  • Advice on pedagogical and organizational issues

  • Strengthening child-friendly, inclusive and sustainable educational opportunities

Functioning of the technical supervision

Professional supervision primarily means support and advice, not traditional control. School councillors visit schools, hold discussions with principals and teachers and offer further training. They provide impetus for the further development of teaching and support the introduction of new concepts, e.g. in the areas of digitalization, inclusion or language support.

Support for teachers and school management

Teachers receive support with lesson planning, performance assessment and working with parents. School administrators are advised on school organization, personnel management and conflict resolution within the teaching staff. The specialist supervisor also provides support with individual support - e.g. dyslexia, dyscalculia, special talents - as well as with procedures in accordance with the AO-SF (learning, language, emotional and social development).

Cooperation with other partners

The subject supervisor works closely with school authorities, the district government and training centers. This creates a network that supports schools in their daily work.

Focus on child-friendly learning

The focus is on the child. The specialist supervisor ensures that the lessons are age-appropriate, comprehensible and supportive - regardless of origin, language or individual requirements.
